How soon will I receive my reading?
My usual turnaround time is 3-6 business days. Please note I don't usually read in the summer (until August).
Please feel free to email me to determine my availability. Thanks ~ I look forward to reading for you!
My goal is to send your Tarot card reading within 72 hours (3 days) whenever possible. It may occasionally take longer, if I have many readings scheduled. If your reading will be significantly delayed I will email you to let you know. I want to give your reading the attention, energy, and calm focus that it deserves, so I limit the number of readings I do in a single day. For astrology birth-chart readings, please allow up to 2 weeks.
If you would like a time-frame/delivery estimate before ordering, just email me.
Can I pay with Paypal?
Yes! The payment processor for this website won't accept Paypal unless I "upgrade".. But if you prefer to pay with Paypal just email me and I can send you a Paypal invoice right away. (Just FYI, when you pay with your credit card, I do NOT see your card info. Payment is secure and hidden within the Stripe payment system.)
How should I phrase my question?
Perhaps the most important FAQ. The "answers" you receive from Tarot will often depend on how you phrase the questions. Often, clients will ask a question about what will happen or what someone else will do, or what someone else is thinking, or a very general question such as Will I ever find love? These are not the most helpful types of questions...
Best are questions that focus on what you can learn or what you can do in the situation. If you are concerned about a relationship in your life, a good question might be, What can I do to strengthen this relationship? or What are the underlying issues here that I need to see? If you have questions about your career, one example of a helpful question would be, What do I need to know in order to achieve my goals? In fact, asking "What do I need to know about (whatever your concern)" is probably the most useful and powerful question you can ask in Tarot.
These are just examples, but I hope they give you some guidance. The best questions -- and by best I mean most helpful for you -- focus on what you can learn and what you can do, rather than simply trying to "predict" specific events or focusing on someone else.
It is also helpful to give your question a time-frame. For example, rather than asking Will we ever be together? or Will I ever find true love?, it would be best to have a period of time in mind -- whether a month, a year, or ten years -- because "ever" is a very long time! And speaking of timing... all good readers will tell you this is the trickiest part of Tarot -- predicting When. Adding astrological transits helps, but it's always tricky!
Are you a psychic?
I do not use the word "psychic" to describe myself, because that word means so many different things to different people. I prefer to avoid it, because it is so often misunderstood and misused.
I prefer to call myself "intuitive." We all have intuition, but some people have especially strong intuitive abilities and are especially sensitive to the psychic energies that surround us. I have always been highly intuitive and empathic. This is a natural "talent" or sensitivity (you can see it clearly in my astrology chart!) but also a skill that I have developed through years of practice. Tarot cards provide a focus, a medium, a language of symbols. I read and interpret cards with intuition, empathy, knowledge and many years of experience. I also use prayer, meditation and ritual in my readings.
Can you predict the future?
When your reading shows a probable outcome, I am predicting energies, not events. Certainly energies influence events. Tarot and astrology can reveal energies at work that make certain outcomes and events more likely. Sometimes much more likely.
But I believe in free will, which means the future is unwritten and will depend at least partly on the choices of everyone involved. So I personally do not believe that anyone can predict future events with certainty. My readings focus on energies that influence events, not the events themselves.
I do believe that the present moment contains the ripples of the past and the seeds of the future, which is how Tarot works. Through Tarot, I read the energies of the present moment, which contains the past and future, and these interact with free will to create "what happens." Some situations are more influenced by free will than others, but it is always there!
Most reputable readers - even the ones who use the label "psychic" - will tell you basically the same thing: free will is always a factor. They will also tell you that exact timing is very difficult. Notice I said "reputable"!
Why should I care about the past or the present? Just tell me the future!
I hear it a lot: What good is information about the past or present? All I want to know is what will happen!
First of all, the future always has much more uncertainty than the past or the present, and so is always harder to read and always less clear. That's just the way it is. The future is not written yet. It can still be influenced and changed. It always has a degree of uncertainty. I know that's not what you want to hear, but there it is.
So, why read the past and the present?
Which Tarot reading is right for me?
If you have a single question, a three-card Tarot reading will often be appropriate. If you would like to explore a single area of concern (such as love or work) with more detail, including what is helping you and hurting you, advice and probable outcome, choose the seven-card "Star" Tarot reading. For the most in-depth exploration of your situation, the Celtic Cross Tarot reading is "tried and true" and nearly always helpful. Please always feel free to email me for help in choosing a reading!
Any of the readings above can focus on love and relationships. However, I also offer a couple of more "specialized" readings in this area. My Relationship Tarot reading explores energies of the two people involved as well as the relationship between them. If your concern involves possible reunion with an ex, my "Should We Reconcile" Tarot Reading will help you understand your motivations for reconciliation, past dynamics, current obstacles, and likely outcome.
If you're faced with a decision, a choice between two paths, two directions in life, which could be two relationships, two options at work, two alternatives of some kind, my Two Paths reading is designed for such situations, casting light on the energies influencing each path and likely outcomes based on the current energy.
For SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE, any and all of my readings are appropriate. My readings always tend to have a psychological and spiritual focus, so they are particularly appropriate for exploring aspects of yourself and gaining insight and guidance along your spiritual journey. My Spirit Guides Tarot reading is designed to give you messages in this regard, such as what you need to remember, what you need to do, as well as a heart blessing and card for your spirit guide. You can combine a Spirit Guides reading with any of the other readings above!
The large Gypsy House 21-card Tarot reading is my variation of a traditional reading that looks at many different areas of life. It is a grand overview, when you want a general look at your current energies rather than addressing a specific question. It can help you decide where to focus your energies. I can also do a Zodiac Houses reading based on the 12 houses of the zodiac, if you email me.
Then there are SHADOW READINGS...
What is a Shadow Tarot Reading?
A shadow reading helps you explore the darker, hidden aspects of yourself, or the hidden, darker aspects of a situation. We're talking psychological dark -- your shadow is the part of yourself you deny or resist looking at. This type of reading is best suited for inner work, self-knowledge, spiritual growth and guidance. It's also appropriate for questioners who are intrigued by and comfortable with darker energies and Gothic aesthetics.
Dark doesn't mean evil! Just dark, hidden, off-kilter, unconventional. Our Shadow is what we hide from ourselves, usually unconsciously or semi-consciously. Ignore your Shadow and it may cause trouble; embrace your Shadow and you may find your treasure. That's what the fairy tales tell us...
What about Yes/No questions?
I am happy to answer the occasional Yes/No question. (You can email me for a quick one-card reading for a single question... I can invoice you through paypal...) Sometimes that is all you need. But...
But wouldn't you usually prefer a little more information? If all you ask is Yes/No questions, you will miss out on most of what Tarot has to offer. Yes/No questions tend to be closed and fatalistic. Open-ended questions that allow for Why? and How? and What If? can lead to profound insight and empowered choices in your life. That's what it is about: insight and empowered choices.
How often should I get a Tarot reading?
There is no set rule on this. Certainly getting readings over and over again on the same question, hoping for a different answer, is not helpful. The cards will just stop telling you anything -- or worse, they will start "toying" with you!
In general, I think once a month on a particular question or situation is enough, although for smaller readings once a week can be perfectly fine, especially if the situation changes significantly.
For guidance/spiritual readings, I suggest that you follow your intuition regarding when a reading will be helpful to you and how often you should have them. And if I believe it is too soon for another reading to be helpful to you, I will let you know.
Do you answer follow up questions?
I am happy to answer follow up questions to help clarify your reading. If you don't understand something in the reading, please do ask! I tend to let words flow when I'm doing a reading, and sometimes my readings get long. So if I need to rephrase something or clarify something I said, I hope you will let me know.
I do ask that you please send your follow up questions within 48 hours, and also that they relate to the reading and question, rather than a totally new question or concern (which would require a new reading!)
Do you offer refunds if I don't like my reading?
Because a reading cannot be "returned," and neither can the time and energy I have already invested in your reading, I don't normally offer refunds for readings. However, if you are truly unsatisfied with your reading, please let me know. I will do all I can to make it right. Often it is just a matter of differing expectations or some other issue that can be resolved with better communication between us.
Please note, my readings may tell you things other than what you want to hear. They may tell you things that are difficult to hear and difficult to accept. I read with kindness and compassion and empathy, but I see no point in "sugar-coating" or only telling you what I think you want to hear. I hope that you will value this honesty. All of this is to say that I cannot offer a refund just because your reading doesn't give you the answer you hoped for or doesn't match what others may have said.
Do you offer spells or rituals?
No. When I was a practicing psychotherapist, I sometimes did ritual work with clients, always for psychological/spiritual healing and personal growth, never to influence others. And I use personal rituals to help focus my readings. But I don't offer ritual work or spellcasting for others at this time.
Are there certain kinds of Tarot readings you will not do?
I am not a medical professional, practicing psychologist, attorney, or financial adviser. For assistance with medical concerns, mental illness, legal issues, or serious financial difficulties, please seek the advice of a professional in these fields. I cannot in good conscience provide readings for such questions. :-)
I may politely decline to perform readings for other reasons, usually because I don't feel I can be helpful to you. For example, I usually don't do "third-party" readings of another person, although I can do a reading for YOU that explores how that person affects you.
One more note about "guidance": My readings can offer guidance, but they are not professional counseling services nor are they meant to substitute for such services. Although I do have a background in professional counseling and psychology, which colors my readings and my outlook on life, I do not offer professional counseling on this site.
Why don't you include a picture of yourself on your site?
I apologize for not including a picture of my face to go with my online "voice." I just don't wish to share a picture of myself on the world wide web, due to privacy and safety concerns. The world (and the internet in particular!) includes some unstable people, and I've "met" a few online over the years. This is also why I don't include my phone number.
I am happy to tell you a little about myself, if that helps! I am happily married to my soul-mate and I am the proud mother of two wonderful teen-aged sons. I have four cats, one of whom likes to watch me while I read Tarot. I love overgrown gardens, history books, antique icons, thimbles, bellydance, vintage clothes, mid-century kitchenware, movies, all kinds of music and performance art, costumes and theater, seashells, old buttons, the moon, cats, foxes, birds and the beach! I like digital collage, painting on wood, and making mixed media shrines. I sew and sell vintage style aprons and Tarot bags on a vintage Singer, and I collect and sell vintage dresses and skirts. I am an introvert and a champion daydreamer.
I am a triple water sign girl, with Neptune rising and a water Grand Trine of Neptune/ASC, Jupiter/Moon, and Mercury/Sun (it's like a triangular psychic antenna!). An astrologer once told me it was a good thing I had Venus in Virgo or I might float away on all that water. Strong Neptunian, Plutonian and Uranian influence, Mars in Gemini (why so many words), Ninth House Sun. Fortunately I have an exact Saturn/Mars trine to give me discipline and a T-Square to challenge me!
Where are you located?
I live near Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States. I grew up in Mississippi and New Orleans and Atlanta, and I've lived and traveled in other parts of the U.S. and parts of Europe.
Do you offer Tarot readings anywhere else online?
I have an etsy shop: MorningMoonTAROT.etsy.com
I do not currently offer readings anywhere else online. In the past I've read in my home, the homes of friends and clients, in a bookstore, and at fairs and festivals, but now I'm mostly online.
Does Tarot work through email?
Yes, for me it does! After years of doing Tarot readings in person, I was not sure whether email Tarot readings would "work." Would I be able to connect? I quickly discovered that email Tarot readings, while less conversational than "live" readings, can be quite connected and powerful, and benefit from the fact that I can take more time in interpretation. Email Tarot readings have unique advantages, not least of which is the ability to read for you wherever you are! I love reading for people all around the world.
What Tarot deck(s) do you use?
I'm so glad you asked! I collect Tarot decks. I usually read with my vintage Albano-Waite cards, which are a version of Ryder-Waite-Smith that was recolored by the mysterious Frankie Albano in 1968. This was my first deck, which "came to me" under unusual circumstances, and it's the one I use most. The main exception to that is Shadow Readings, for which I like to use the Bohemian Gothic Tarot.
If you're interested, I am glad to do your reading with another deck. I have read with a vintage French Marseille deck, Victorian Romantic Tarot, Morgan-Greer, vintage Motherpeace, the Golden Tarot based on medieval art, and the Druidcraft Tarot which uses Pagan/Wiccan symbolism.
I also work with an Astrological Oracle and Druid Animal Oracle. and sometimes a rare, fascinating French Grand Etteilla I bought in an antique bookshop in Paris 20 years ago! Again, feel free to email me if you're interested in a reading with something a little different. The pictures below will enlarge if you click on one.
What my clients say...
Lovely, I have found the reading to be very accurate and honest. She will tell you what she honestly sees but doesn't do so in a harsh manner. Thanks...
Very Accurate reading. Karen has such a lovely warmth to her readings. I will definitely be back and highly recommend her.
I purchased this reading with zero expectations but was very surprised at how accurate and relevant it was. Great reading.
She was very good! I loved every second of the reading - she even went as far as to pull an extra card to help me understand the reading further. From one tarot card reader to another - she was amazing =)
This was one of the most accurate readings I have ever had done. She intuited things that I had been told during meditations, that I hadn't told another soul about. I definitely recommend her to anyone who wants a reading done!
I am required by law to state: ALL READINGS OFFERED FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. You must be at least 18 years old to order.
